A friend and I fished the marsh north of Lake Mechant Friday morning and boxed 8 reds and 2 flounder.  Three of the reds were in the 25-27 inch range with the others averaging about 17 inches.  I lost 2 good sized reds at the boat while attempting to net them due to my inability to tie a proper knot.  A few of the fish were caught on plastic but the majority were caught using shrimp under a cork.  The water was a little on the low side and there was a stiff northwesterly breeze.
 
I'd like to thank my friend Steve for showing me his top secret shortcut back into the Lake.  I'd also like to thank him for getting out the boat to push and pull it all the way through the shortcut.
